“Toy” is a three (3) - dimensional abstract sculpture created by American sculptor ________ in ____. He was born ______ and was later known for his creations made of old automotive parts.

For the “Toy”, which is a projection of assembled parts mounted to a surface, he used various discarded, rusty metal and plastic sheets, which were pressed into ridges as if to bind them together in one bundle then, mount all of them on another piece of dilapidated thicker sheet of rectangular metal.

This piece of art was influenced by Abstract Expressionism, which was then, a growing art movement, which is characterized by progression and rebellion during the post-American World War II and also by Dada, a cultural movement that rejects standards and also affects art and literature.

Colors, Forms

.    Painted and compressed sheets of metal and plastic in the colors red, blue, green, yellow, gray, brown and black were draped over one another as if to create an illusion of flourishing petals in its different phases of bloom from freshness to shriveling.

Composition

Toy’s composition is evoking to one’s senses, as if sheet by sheet, part by part, challenges its audience to move in closer proximity to understand how every sheet is essential to the structure of the next sheet. Then, from eyeing the sheets and garbage bag below it, one can gradually see it as a whole context of a piece of art, not by merely seeing it, but by experiencing its existence in front of you. ###
